Event Details

☆ (4) Vesta is a primordial asteroid and the second most massive body located in the main asteroid belt. Vesta has been battered by smaller bodies over the years and has very unique features including two large impact basins: Rheasilvia and Veneneia. 

☆ Vesta is also the largest body part of the Vesta family which is a group of asteroids which originated from Vesta. The Vesta family has more than 15,000 known members and are called “vestoids”. 

☆During this talk, Dr. Z will explore the history of Vesta and its family of asteroids along with his research on the body.
