☆In an effort to understand asteroids, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) did the unthinkable and set their sights on the asteroid Itokawa back in 2003. 

☆In a first of its kind mission, JAXA sent a spacecraft named Hayabusa to collect and return samples to Earth- the first mission to do so. 

☆During this talk, Dr. Z will discuss the origins Itokawa, the Hayabusa I mission and the samples returned to Earth.
