DRAWING FACES: Capturing Likeness and Character

6-Week Art Class (Sept. 24 - Oct. 29)
Instructor: Keith Mueller

This series of 6 classes will focus on the 5 elements of the human face – eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and hair – and bringing them all together as a cohesive portrait. You will finish having captured not only a good likeness, but also an expression of the inner character of your subject. Emphasis will be on working with live subjects, as well as photographs when necessary.

Students will learn both basic and refined techniques using graphite pencils to lay a foundation for more complex media: ink, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and oil.

Individual attention will be given to beginning, intermediate, and advanced artists.

Basic drawing tools (paper, pencils, and erasers) will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks (9x12 or 12x16), pencils, and erasers.

Registration is required. For adults and seniors.
